Nurturing Little Scientists for a Better Tomorrow

Nurture Science

We are the first NGO in Mauritius dedicated to introducing science during the early years. Through hands-on, play-based activities, we’re cultivating a new generation of thinkers, explorers, and problem-solvers—starting from the foundation.

ABOUT US

Our Mission

To ignite a lifelong love for science in children from all backgrounds by making early science education accessible, engaging, and equitable across Mauritius.

Our Vision

A country where every child—regardless of socioeconomic status—has the opportunity to explore, question, and understand the world through science, starting in their early childhood.

Who We Are

A trailblazing NGO founded with a bold ambition: to bridge the science education gap by targeting the earliest stages of development. We believe curiosity has no age—that with care and creativity, young children can begin their journey as future scientists, inventors, and critical thinkers as early as four years old.

OUR WORK

Launch Project: Science Through Their Eyes

In 2025, we reached approximately 270 children through our hands-on science workshops delivered in schools and with partner NGOs/associations. To strengthen the project and refine our approach, we organised a Reflection and Feedback Session with key partners, sponsors, and funders. During the session we presented our first learning tool, a matching board designed to reinforce the science concepts explored during our workshops.

In 2026, we are expanding our reach to 12 schools.

Our structured programme uses visual and hands-on methods to introduce young children to the wonders of science. Through engaging themes and interactive workshops, we spark curiosity and build foundational skills like observation, inquiry, and problem-solving. Each session is carefully crafted to nurture a love for discovery and encourage scientific thinking from an early age.

Nowadays, children are growing up disconnected from nature, with screens taking up much of their attention. This limits their curiosity and reduces interest for vital science fields. In Mauritius, fewer students are choosing science, raising concerns about future skills shortages and the country’s ability to meet sustainable development goals.

WHY IT MATTERS

Pioneering Early Science Education

We are proud to be the first NGO in Mauritius dedicated to introducing science in early childhood. Through hands-on, age-appropriate learning, we are laying the foundation for curiosity, critical thinking, and equal access to quality science education—starting as early as four years old.

Promoting quality science education

Our programme is developed by scientists and validated by educators to ensure it is accurate, age-appropriate, and engaging—delivering high-quality science education that builds strong foundations from the early years.

Reducing inequalities

Nurture Science ensures that children from all socio-economic backgrounds have access to quality science education. By bridging gaps in access, we reduce educational inequalities and empower every child to become a future innovator.

Curriculum-aligned innovation

Our programme is thoughtfully designed to align with the national early childhood curriculum, supporting key learning goals through hands-on, science-based activities. We complement classroom teaching with innovative methods that spark curiosity and deepen understanding.

Lifelong learning-Scientific mindset

We nurture a spirit of inquiry from an early age, helping children ask questions, explore ideas, and think critically. By fostering a scientific mindset, we lay the groundwork for lifelong learning and adaptability in an ever-changing world.
